RELIGIOUS COMMUNITIES

Listening to our Spirit

We are all on a journey, each on an individual and unique path. For some, that journey includes a good deal of soul searching, seeking answers of a spiritual nature. That search may begin with finding a supportive community. Here we list some of the local religious communities that welcome and affirm the queer community.

UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST CONGREGATION OF YORK (UUCY)

The UUCY embraces different-ness and celebrates individuality. We are a community- and spiritually-based congregation that welcomes anyone and everyone who comes through our doors. Whatever path you are on, whomever you love, whoever you are, you are welcome here.

UNION LUTHERAN YORK (ULCY)

A neighborhood church with diverse membership that actively invites all as God's beloved creation. Both our members and our leadership include LGBTQIA folks and people of all ages, races, and abilities, because it can't be about us without us. Join in high church meets jazz and gospel on Sundays or for Creative Worship Wednesdays and find a place for the whole family, whatever your family looks like!

HEIDELBERG UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

Heidelberg is an “Open & Affirming” congregation of The United Church of Christ. We make a public covenant of welcome into our full life and ministry to persons of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.

ST. PAUL'S UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST DALLASTOWN

St. Paul's United Church of Christ is a progressive, Open and Affirming Christian congregation in Dallastown. Our members and staff are involved in LGBTQ+ activism, as well as many other social justice causes. Our worship style is a contemporary approach to traditional worship. Rev. Dr. Christopher Rodkey, pastor, is the author of numerous books and on Sundays his preaching is intended to be Biblical, challenging, and inspiring. Our religious education program for children is grounded in Biblical literacy, which naturally has a justice component.

ST. PAUL'S UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST STOVERSTOWN/SPRING GROVE

St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Stoverstown/Spring Grove is a welcoming congregation to the LGBTQ+ community. We are currently in the process of becoming an "open and affirming" congregation, which is a requirement by its governing conference in order to proclaim that we are "ONA -- open and affirming." Our belief is that "no matter where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here." God Is Still Speaking in our congregation.
